  18. GRAPHICS :

  20. Microsoft Word 5.0 has the ability to import graphic files.  It
  21. can bring in many different formats, including:
  22.  
  23.     o  HPGL
  24.     o  TIFF
  25.     o  PCX
  26.     o  EPS
  27.     o  PIC
  28.     o  EPSF
  29.     o  WINDOWS CLIPBOARD
  30.  
  31. Quattro Pro can generate graphic files, which can then be
  32. imported into Microsoft Word, in the following formats:
  33.  
  34.     o  Postscript print file
  35.     o  EPS file
  36.     o  PCX file (Only Version 2.0 and later)
  37.     o  PIC file
  38.     o  HPGL file
  39.  
  40. The manner in which each format is created is explained below:
  41.  
  42. EPS
  43.  
  44.    1.  Choose /Print|Graph Print|Layout|Orientation.  Select
  45.        either Portrait or Landscape.
  46.  
  47.    2.  Choose Quit|Name.  You are prompted for a graph name.
  48.        Choose the one you want, and then press ENTER.
  49.  
  50.    3.  Choose Write Graph File|EPS File.  You are prompted to
  51.        give the EPS File a name.  Specify a file name, and press
  52.        ENTER.  Quattro Pro will print the graph to that filename
  53.        with a .EPS extension in the directory specified by
  54.        /File|Directory unless otherwise specified.

  56.    4.  Exit Quattro Pro.  Enter Microsoft Word and choose the
  57.        place within your document where you want the graph.
  58.        Press <ESC><Library><Link><Graphics>.  You are prompted
  59.        for a file name.  Enter the name of the file you created
  60.        earlier, with the .EPS file extension, and press ENTER.

  84.        The graph is inserted into the Word document, in the
  85.        orientation you chose in step 1.

  87. NOTE:  The EPS file format will not support patterns in Quattro
  88. Pro graphs.  All patterns are converted to shades of gray or
  89. colors, depending on the printer.

  91. Postscript
  92.  
  93.    1.  Choose /Options|Hardware|Printers.  Make sure the Default
  94.        Printer (either 1st or 2nd Printer), is set to a
  95.        Postscript printer. (eg. Apple Laserwriter, QMS
  96.        ColorScript, NEC LC890, etc...)

  98.    2.  Choose /Print|Graph Print|Layout|Orientation.  Select a
  99.        graph orientation, either Portrait or Landscape.

  101.    3.  Choose Quit|Name.  You are prompted for a graph name.
  102.        Choose one and press ENTER.

  104.    4.  Choose Destination|File.  You are prompted to enter a name
  105.        for the file.  Once you enter a name, choose Go.  Quattro
  106.        Pro prints the graph to that name with a .PRN extension in
  107.        the directory specified by /File|Directory unless
  108.        otherwise specified.

  110.    5.  Exit Quattro Pro.  Enter Microsoft Word and choose the
  111.        place within your document where you want the graph.
  112.        Press <ESC><Library><Link><Graphics>.  Word asks you for a
  113.        file name.  Give it the name of the file you created
  114.        earlier, with the .PRN file extension, and press ENTER.

  116. NOTE:  Saving a file using this option will support patterns.

  121.    1.  Choose /Options|Hardware|Printers.  Make sure the Default

  150.        files are stored in Landscape orientation as an industry
  151.        standard.  Because of this, when you select Portrait, the
  152.        graph will actually be in Landscape when imported to
  153.        another program.  If you choose Landscape, it will appear
  154.        in portrait orientation when imported.

  156.    3.  Choose Quit|Name.  You are prompted to specify which
  157.        graph.  Choose one and press ENTER.

  159.    4.  Choose Destination|File.  You are prompted for a name for
  160.        the graph file.    Enter a name and choose Go.  Quattro Pro
  161.        prints the graph to that file name with a .PRN file
  162.        extension in the directory specified by /File|Directory,
  163.        unless otherwise specified.

  165.    5.  Exit Quattro Pro.  Enter Microsoft Word and choose the

  175.    1.  PIC files are only stored in portrait orientation.
  176.        Changing /Print|Graph Print|Layout|Orientation to
  177.        landscape has no effect.

  179.    2.  Choose Quit|Name.  You are prompted to specify a graph
  180.        name.  Choose one and press ENTER.

  182.    3.  Choose Write Graph File|PIC File.  You are asked to give
  183.        the PIC File a name.  Once you enter a name, Quattro Pro
  184.        prints the graph to that file name with a .PIC file
  185.        extension in the directory specified by /File|Directory

  242. SPREADSHEETS :

  244. Microsoft Word 5.0 can also import spreadsheet files.  It can
  245. import several different formats from Quattro Pro, including:
  246.  
  247.     Lotus 1-2-3, Version 1a, (.WKS)
  248.     Lotus 1-2-3, Version 2.01, (.WK1)
  249.     Lotus 1-2-3, Educational Version, (.WKE)
  250.     Symphony, Version 1.2, (.WRK)
  251.     Symphony, Version 2.0, (.WR1)
  252.  
  253. Once a file is saved in Quattro Pro with one of the above
  254. extensions, enter Microsoft Word.  Choose
  255. <ESC><Library><Link><Spreadsheet>.  Word asks for a file name.
  256. Enter the name of your spreadsheet.  Press TAB and enter the
  257. range you want to import.  If you do not select a range, Word
  258. imports the entire spreadsheet.
